A maxim very wisely says that failure is the stepping stone to success. These words mean very little to a ten year old child. This does not, however, undermine the emotions that accompany them.

No 10 year old girl should want to run away from her home, should  have to feel lesser because of things beyond her control. This girl did but she turned her life around. From failing in a primary class because of a lack of prior English education to authoring several books some years down the line. Then again, Preeti Chitkara (née Arora) was an extraordinary girl and now a phenomenal woman. 

Born in a refugee family to an under-educated couple, the eldest child of the Arora household had no one to guide or hold her hand. Living in a small district named Sardhana, near Meerut, her parents struggled immensely to ensure their daughter got into the premier convent school of Meerut. Having had no formal education in English, the language was alien to her. With no tuition and a sudden school switch, she was faced with the daunting task of studying everything in English. 

Finding no way out, her school teacher was contacted and an 8 year old started taking tuition from her school teacher in Meerut. She used to leave home at 5.30 in the morning, finish her tuition around 6 pm and travelled to her home in the city bus only to reach home at 7.30 or 8pm. However despite these unbearable efforts, she could not bear the burden and failed in class V. This failure completely crushed a jovial and lively girl turning her timid, shy and nervous.

It is curious how miracles work. Sometimes they come in the form of a neighbor proficient in English, who help out little girls realize their dreams. 

Did the little girl deserve all the humiliation and disappointment hurled her way? No. Did she deserve to be called names by her friends and neighbors? No. Did she let all this deter her from carving her way among the top five students of her class through & through? Also, no. 

“I learned to always take on things I’d never done before. Growth & Comfort do not coexist”. This quotation, of President & CEO of IBM, is a perfect paradigm to the persona of Dr Preeti Chitkara.  Beginning her journey as a student of the prestigious Sophia Girls’ School, Meerut (Batch 1999), Preeti has been a conscientious, diligent and hardworking girl since her childhood.

Honored with the ‘Leadership Award’, ‘Best Personality’, ‘Best Editor Award’, ‘Naari Shakti Samman’ as Top ten Super Dynamic Women and others, Dr. Preeti Chitkara is currently the Manager - Institutional Affairs in one of the best engineering colleges of Delhi-NCR, KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad and she’s leading her domain in the most confident manner. Experienced Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry for more than 14 years in the field of education, she looks after the PRs, Communications, Branding and International Relations of the institute. Her educational qualifications include PhD in English, M.Ed., UGC NET in Education and Diploma in Training and Development from ISTD, HRD Ministry of India (p). 

After doing her intermediate from Meerut in 1999, Ms Preeti was clear on her vision and purpose of life. With strong determination and high ambitions in her heart she headed to face all the challenges of her life. Though her parents resisted, she always wanted to stand on her feet. Performing brilliantly in her intermediate she wanted to go to Delhi for higher studies, to her dismay her conservative parents denied and instructed her to do her best wherever she stays. She promised to herself with conviction that she would perform outstandingly in whatever she would do in her life and win over all the constraints that will come her way. She studied in Meerut itself and became the favourite of all at the college while doing her graduation, post-graduation and Bachelors in Education. She made her way to win various competitions and earned various titles as Ms Talent, Best Actress of the institute, Best dancer, Best writer and many more.

 Being resolute to touch the hearts of all, she began her professional journey as a school teacher. She got married in 2005 but kept her studies intact. Mrs Chitkara topped Masters in Education (M.Ed) and qualified UGC NET in first attempt. She taught teachers and upgraded herself by completing her doctorate in English. Her confidence again saw some shattering moments when she struggled to enter into motherhood, also her husband lost his job due to recession. Close relatives hurled puns and mocks but she remained unmoved. God blessed her with a lovely daughter after six years of her marriage and destiny took a turn. When her daughter was yet an infant, she joined an Engineering institute of repute in Greater Noida, where she had to travel 4 hours per day to build her career. Her passion to achieve success, retaining her values and working hard with sincerity, played a crucial role in making her climb the ladder to affluence. She attributes the credit of her success to her parents, better half, friends and grace of God.

Dr. Preeti Chitkara is an epitome of the quote “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.” Her strengths also include integrity & honesty towards her work & organization and this makes her exceptional. Also she’s blessed to have a charismatic personality who’s never lost in the masses, she always stands out of the crowd and gets the attention of all as people usually find her unique & outstanding due to her qualities. She’s a strong-willed, thoughtful, innovative, risk taking, connecting & confident person. She is continuously working to better her workaholic, sensitive and emotional nature. 

She is showered with multiple talents and skills: She’s a poetess, an editor, a dancer, an actress, a trainer, a motivational speaker, an event manager and most important she is an ardent learner. She has numerous certificates and plentiful accolades to her name in different domains. She has delivered live as well as web sessions on National and International levels.  

Dr Preeti had been designated as the National Executive Council member of Aagman: the literary and cultural group.  And directly from her heart, Aagaman has played an integral role in bringing transformation in her life. Her professional as well as personal life took a swift and positive turn after being associated with Aagaman. She discovered a poet and exemplary writer inside her after joining this group of eminence. 

Her motivational talks and book (anthology) ‘Blues under the Silver Hues: an endeavour to retrieve smiles’ on how to help our children choose the right profession and face depressive states of mind are her first few steps towards her pious goal and have been a source of great inspiration and awareness amongst students, teachers/educationists as well as parents. She writes quotes, poetry and stories with great impact. She has given and believes in giving a platform to young and budding writers. Her contribution in the field of Education is indeed admirable.

She has participated as well as organized a number of workshops, seminars, talks and college and inter-college events. She has acted in a documentary film named ‘Gandhi ka Bachpan’. She has bagged the titles as ‘Ms Talent’, ‘Super Mom’, ‘Aagaman Queen’, 'The Fantastic Female Award- 2019', ‘AGS Teachers’ Excellence Award’ and even earned a number of certificates and awards of excellence in the field of Education.   

Dr. Chitkara is equipped with Brilliant Teaching Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Excellent Communication Skills, Networking, Liaising & Negotiation Skills, Presentation Skills, Event Management Skills, Content Writing & Teacher Training Skills, Brand Management, and Leadership Skills. She is an eloquent and highly motivational speaker thus contributing to the making of a Multi-faceted Educationist.

She has the credit of introducing International opportunities to over 5000 students of her institute and organized various awareness programs including International Education Awareness Week ie. IEAW for the last few years at KIET. Due to her efforts, the foreign language classes, including German, Japanese and French are being taught at the campus. She has facilitated students to fulfil their passions of studying and visiting various countries by guiding them in attaining admissions and international internships. The institute has signed Memorandums of Understanding for International Studies and Internships with several foreign universities. Dr Chitkara has had the privilege of being a Jury member in World INNOMPICS Games 2019 & 2020.
